BOLOGNA MAY 5-7 2022
Dear Friends of AIC, dear Members,
with pleasure and pride I am pleased to present you the program of our next Annual Congress to be held in Bologna from 5 to 7 May 2022. The title will be INTERFACES and, I am sure, it will be very interesting to understand how many concepts, knowledge, techniques and materials relate differently in the course of our daily activities. To better understand each other, let’s start by defining what is meant by the term INTERFACE. INTERFACE is the separation surface between two phases of a system in correspondence with which particular characteristics determined by the difference of distribution of intermolecular forces between the interior and the surface of a phase are represented: Therefore, the two phases are not simply superimposed, but interactive and intercommunicating between them.
The word interface seems to derive from the English term inter-faces and therefore defines a situation in which there is a connection function in the intercommunications between the two faces (physical, electronic, biological, interpersonal, etc.), allowing interoperability between two or more systems of different types, that is the ability of a system to cooperate and exchange information or services with other systems in a reliable and more or less complete way. Borrowing these definitions from computer technology to condense a multi-faceted concept into one word, we want in this annual AIC Congress to examine some of the situations and occasions in which in our daily work we find ourselves facing an interface, enhancing its possibilities and limiting the possible drawbacks: the interface between implants and vital tissues or between restorative materials and dental substance applies to all, but also in a translated sense between restoration and aesthetics and between dentist and patient. A different point of view will surely bring us a new way of seeing things, finding unsuspected priorities and improving our professional approach.
On Thursday 5 May we’ll open the works with the Pre-congress Course on the topic The workflow between practice and laboratory in the real world: simplification and optimization in a non-ideal reality held by Nitzan Bichacho and the dental technician Giuseppe Romeo.
The Congress will go live on Friday 6 May with a presentation by Giovanni Zucchelli on the fundamental restorative-periodontal interface. Prestigious speakers such as Domenico Ricucci, Lorenzo Breschi, Allegra Comba, Stefano Patroni, Jan-Frederick Güth and Federico Ferraris will follow. On Saturday 7 May Mauro Fradeani will go up on the AIC stage and again Nitzan Bichacho who in turn will examine all the other possible interfaces (pulp-dentin, adhesive, tooth-restoration, implant-prosthesis, digital, aesthetic and occlusal) that the Clinician must manage every day to achieve a successful Conservative / Restorative Dentistry. You will have understood how much each presentation and speaker is worth your presence in Bologna!
At this point I would like to thank not only the Executive Council and the AIC Work Committees who conceived and developed the congress theme, but also the group of Speakers who accepted the invitation from our Academy with great enthusiasm.
To all my personal thanks. AIC is always at your side in your professional life, stimulating the desire to do and understand better, transforming your everyday life into a continuous search for the new and the best. So do not miss our Congress as well as your Congress and, with it, the opportunity to see things from a stimulating as well as fundamental angle!
I look forward to seeing you on 5, 6 and 7 May in Bologna!
