Dear Colleagues, Friends of AIC
As President of both societies, it is a great honor for me to tell you about this joint Congress to be staged by Italian Academy of Conservative and Restorative Dentistry with the International Academy of Adhesive Dentistry. I believe this convention will offer a unique opportunity to bring the talent and clinical ability for which our Academy is known into contact with new international clinical research supporting and guiding adhesive restorative dentistry.
“#Worn_Dentition: The Adhesive Way”. The congress title says it all: a multidisciplinary restorative approach to patient with worn teeth backed by new findings in the field of adhesive dentistry and state-of-the-art materials offering direct or indirect restorative options that were unthinkable a few short years ago.
For Thursday’s pre-congress course, we are pleased to welcome Marcelo Calamita, a world-renowned Brazilian clinician who will give us a step-by-step guide to digital aesthetic restorative planning of complex treatment plans in patients with wear and vertical dimension loss.
The cultural program continues with a full day on Friday, when we will examine the diagnostic process, multidisciplinary treatment plan, and materials and techniques for effective management of patients with teeth severely affected by erosion and abrasion using adhesive restoration methods. On Saturday, the final day, we will look at different clinical approaches for achieving full functional rehabilitation.
This year, we have also organised Lunch&Learn sessions providing opportunities to discuss and share specific issues. These informal round tables will involve participants and our active members.
The program offers plenty of opportunity to share experiences in different fields and get into lively and stimulating discussions.
We are proud of the success enjoyed by AIC. We now have more than 1000 members including active, ordinary, junior ordinary and student members. Large numbers of international participants flock to events and we are well aware of our responsibility for ensuring the program can satisfy our large and attentive audience. The AIC Board of Directors and working committees have made every effort to ensure that the congress is based on objective information and the latest findings in our field, and is relevant to our everyday clinical needs.
We look forward to seeing you in Bologna!

Travel to and within Bologna
Bologna is easy to reach. There are various airlines that fly directly to Bologna as well as excellent train connections from the major cities in Italy. In case your preferred airline does not offer direct flights to Bologna we recommend to book a flight to Milan and then take the direct train to Bologna. The highspeed railway connection is fast and the tickets well-priced.
By plane Guglielmo Marconi International Airport, 15 minutes by bus from the town centre, links Bologna with the main Italian and European airports. The airport is located just a few minutes from the city centre, served by taxi and a special bus line called the Aerobus which stops outside the main terminal building.
By train Due to its central location and geography, Bologna has emerged as the main rail transport hub of northern Italy, making it very well connected with other major Italian cities. The train is a very common means of transport. The high speed railway line is available to/from Milan, shortening the journey to 65 minutes. Bologna is also 35 minutes from Florence, 2 hours 20 minutes from Rome, 2 hours from Venice, 1 hour from Ferrara, etc.
